Ingredients

  • 1 lb. salmon filet cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 inch piece of fresh ginger finely grated or minced
  • 3 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For Garnish:

  • Thinly sliced green onions
  • Black and white sesame seeds

Instructions

Prepare the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper until fully combined.

Sear the Salmon

  • Heat a large, heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the vegetable oil. Arrange the salmon pieces in a single layer and sear undisturbed for approximately 2 minutes. Flip each piece gently and cook for another 1-2 minutes on the opposite side.

Add the Sauce

  • Pour the prepared sauce over the salmon, ensuring it evenly surrounds each piece. Cover the skillet with a lid (or foil if a lid is unavailable) and let it cook for an additional 4-5 minutes. Stir and turn the salmon occasionally until fully cooked and easily flaked with a fork.

Adjust Seasoning

  • Taste the salmon and sauce. If needed, add a small amount of kosher or sea salt to enhance the flavor.

Serve

  • Transfer the salmon bites to a serving dish, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Pair with white rice or your preferred side dish, and enjoy warm.
