Ingredients

  • 16 oz. cream cheese softened
  • 6 strips bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 oz. packet ranch seasoning mix approximately 3 tablespoons
  • 1 ½ cups cheddar cheese shredded (see notes for recommendations)
  • ¼ cup green onions finely diced (or substitute ⅓ cup diced chives)
  • 3 tablespoons sour cream
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, use a silicone spatula to thoroughly combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, cheddar cheese, green onions, and crumbled bacon until fully blended.
  • Shape the cheese mixture into a ball with the help of plastic wrap, pressing gently to mold it into a firm shape.
  • Transfer the wrapped cheese ball to the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
  • When ready to serve, remove the plastic wrap and place the cheese ball on a serving plate. Serve with an assortment of crackers, vegetables, pita chips, or sliced crusty bread.

Notes

  • Cheese Suggestions: A mix of sharp yellow and white cheddar offers optimal flavor. Shred the cheese from a block for best texture, as pre-shredded varieties may lack the desired creaminess. Adding Monterey Jack can also enhance the flavor profile.
  • Optional Additions: Sour cream, garlic powder, and white cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese were incorporated for improved flavor in the recipe update as of December 2020.
